We were inspired by the rustic vibe of Balaton Uplands when competely redesigning the exterior and interior of this cottage: from the classic lakeside house, a nature-oriented, contemporary building design was born, which we created together with our co-architect. In our interior design concept we have combined modern and authentic elements complementing perfectly the building’s look.
We used natural textures—reeds, woven fabrics and soft textiles—counterbalancing the raw wood, stone, metal, concrete and glass surfaces, and in addition to the white colour the blue and green shades of Lake Balaton are also emphasized. We made the bathrooms unique with terazzo and spread coating, also brought a more homely feel to the space with modern rustic furniture.
